Seeing the Other Side
22.04.2018
I've been leveling a Lancer lately; well, "Dragoon" now. It's a fun job to
play. And it has -- hands down -- the coolest L50 armor I've ever seen.
But you know what the greatest value is? Being a dumbass DPSer helps me
be a better tank. Who'd've thought?
Because I get to see how others
tank. It's eye-opening. For example, when I tank, I tend to focus on one mob
group at a time. Many other tanks rush ahead and pull two or even three
groups at once. I always thought this foolish -- and it sometimes is,
because some tanks seriously underestimate their own mortality. But usually,
it works. It makes the duty go faster, but I don't care about that. The
thing I care about is the adrenalin rush. Fighting two or three
groups at once stresses everyone and increases the risk of failure. You've
probably heard the saying, "You never feel so alive as when you're staring
death in the face", right?
Oh yeah. :-)
So when I return to
tanking, I think I'll pull a few groups at a time. Because I need the
excitement.
And no -- I still don't like DPSers.
