World of Warcraft Forever
Last update: 05.10.2026
I'm playing the beta, which ends 21.10.2026. The game releases 04.11.2026.
If you read my pages about WoW Retail and WoW Classic, you're likely surprised that I'm giving Blizzard another chance. Believe me, you're not as surprised as I am. Perhaps you think me wishy-washy after all I've said. I can't blame you.
But yes, Blizz gets another chance. The pull of nostalgia is strong. WoW was my first MMORPG and, in its pure form, was always the best I've ever played. Blizzard repeatedly farged it up and you can read about that on my other links.
But I listened to the Devs speak at BlizzCon. I watched the panel discussions. I read the feedback. I tuned in to Content Creators who have my mindset concerning WoW. And thus it seems to me that, this time -- at least at the time of this writing -- the statements coming out of Blizzard show that they learned their lesson and they are honestly trying to recreate the magic while keeping out all the corruption that ruined that magic before.
Of course, Classic was great at the beginning, too. And then the execs got involved and it all went to hell. I'm acutely aware of the danger of history repeating itself with WoW Forever.
But Blizz gets another chance. If they farg it up -- again -- well… que sera. I'll cancel the sub, uninstall, sigh heavily, perhaps wipe a tear … and then life will go on -- far away from WoW and Blizzard.
My best friend asked me why I was so quick to jump on WoW Forever, given all that has gone on before. I gave a one-word reply.
Hope.
It springs eternal.
We'll see.
